I want to be on page 1 of Google

Here is an interview with Matt Cutts from Google giving a few tips on how Google indexes your website.

picturetray.gifPictureTray is a freeware tool for resizing and rotating pictures quickly and simply. You choose how you want your pictures resized, then drag your picture files into the "In" tray. A resized copy of each picture is made and put in the "Out" tray. You then drag the pictures from the Out tray into another program (like Eudora, Outlook, or FrontPage). This is great to reduce the file size of your piccies before putting them onto your site.

www.nvu.com

nvu.gifnVu is a great WYSIWYG editor. I prefer text editors to WYSIWYG editors, but if you don’t, then nVu is a great choice, especially considering that it’s free. I love that it has a site manager to allow you to review the sites that you’re building. It’s surprising that this software is free. Feature highlights: XML support, advanced CSS support, full site management, built-in validator, and international support as well as WYSIWYG and colour coded XHTML editing.

Advertising your site

Your website is a powerful marketing aid for your business. It accompanies your other advertising and can be your shop window to the rest of the world. To get the most from your site it is best to tell everyone about it. There are a lot of ways to do this from simply linking to other sites on the web, placing ads onto forums & web based magazines, simply sign writing your vehicle, to placing adverts in magazines and journals.

As we are based in France we advertise in The Connexion,Dordogne Advertiser and Normandy Advertiser. We also have many links across the web for example on Angloinfo, Total France, Franglo, Normandy magazine, etc. As you can see from our client portfolio we have many clients from France, the UK and Jersey!Plus by placing regular adverts people begin to recognise your name and this increases visitors to your site and gets you extra business!

It is worth remembering that when placing an advert, keep it bold and simple, as no body wants to read through loads of tiny, tiny, type, always put in your website address,as clients can then go to your site for more information.
